Alison Cheeseman
Alison Cheeseman has performed for many years as a singer and actor in operas, concerts, and in churches and synagogues, with occasional forays into theater, film and TV. Her first public outing as a composer came in 2019 with her Four Sonnets, commissioned by and performed with Christopher Caines Dance. Among her other favorite projects to date: the title roles in both Rossini’s La cenerentola and Massenet’s Cendrillon; Nerone in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea; Alto/Soprano II soloist in Bach’s Mass in B minor with the Helena Symphony Orchestra; the premiere of a set of songs for mezzo and guitar by Gregory Mertl; and WOW, an opera-in-progress about the pop duo Milli Vanilli (Diebes/Hawkey). Alison has performed with organizations including New York City Opera, Experimental Sound Studio, Opera in Williamsburg, Geneva Light Opera, Bronx Opera, Utopia Opera, BRIC, dell’Arte Opera, Taksu Theatre Company, Amato Opera, the New York State Early Music Association, and Big Apple Baroque. She holds a degree in Creative Writing and Studio Art from Stanford University.
